Christian Cruz: The Fitness Guru Taking His Country by Storm
Christian Cruz (born April 2, 1996) age 26, started his professional football career in the Philippines Football League. The Philippines Football League, commonly known as PFL, is a Filipino professional football league sanctioned by the Philippine Football Federation (PFF). It is the Philippines’ highest level of men’s club football.
In 2017, he joined his first club FC Meralco Manila (formerly known as Loyola F.C.) upon joining the Philippines Football League (PFL), the official top flight of Philippine football. Rizal Memorial Stadium then became the club’s home ground. In the 2017 PFL, the club finished at the top of the league table but ended up in third place after the playoffs. In January 2018, the club ceased its participation in the PFL due to the lack of investors. The club was then renamed Loyola Football Club, though only their youth teams and academy remain operational.
After the folding of FC Meralco Manila in 2018, Christian did another tryout for JPV Marikina F.C. and impressed the coaching staff. He was able to get a position with the final 30 players on the roster. Japan Philippines Voltes Marikina Football Club, formerly known as Manila All-Japan Football Club and commonly known as JP Voltes Football Club, was an association football club based in the city of Marikina, Philippines which competed in the Philippines Football League, the highest level of Philippine club football at the time of the league’s existence. The team consisted of Japanese and Filipino players.
In 2019, Christian Cruz left JPV Marikina F.C. to join another PFL club called Global F.C. Global Football Club was a professional football club that last played in the Philippines Football League (PFL), the top flight of Philippines’ club football. The club has won four league titles, two UFL Cups, one UFL FA Cup, and one PFF National Men’s Club Championship. They have participated in the AFC Cup three times.
After 2 years of playing professional football overseas, Christian went back to the United States to continue his coaching career in fitness and helping athletes improve speed & agility. Christian Cruz is currently a free agent looking to sign for another professional team in the near future. He is now working as a fitness coach and taking care of his wife and daughter.
